Following the break of Christine Angolere’s story, the UWONET staff took up the opportunity to adopt her. UWONET staff believed that sponsoring Christine was an exciting opportunity for us to give back to the community.
We believed that sponsoring Christine would make a long term difference in rebuilding her community. Christine has brilliant results and prospects of a bright future. She wants to pursue Human Medicine at University. There are not many doctors from Karamoja and only two female doctors are known of. This is an opportunity for UWONET staff to groom and support another doctor in the making. This shows that number of female scientists from Karamoja is prospectively increasing.
UWONET staff further believed that this will be an opportunity to give back to Karamoja for the support we have got over the years that we have worked in the region as UWONET. This is our pride that we do not just work in UWONET but we do want to make contribution to eliminating all forms of inequality and discrimination in our country.
We are who we are, because someone had to forego one or two treasures they would have loved to have. We are now making the difference.
UWONET Staff collected UGX 1.200.000 (One Million, Two Hundred Thousand Shillings) towards Christine’s tuition for the second term. The UWONET staff have committed to support Christine throughout her A level studies at Nabisunsa Girls School.
