A Manual for Training Women Candidates to Participate in General Elections in Uganda 2020

Executive Summary

This manual has been developed to enhance the capacity of women candidates aspiring to take up political positions from the Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Council levels in Uganda. From the national level to the local to level, women’s leadership and political participation are somewhat constrained.

Women are underrepresented as voters, as well as in leading positions, whether in elected offices, the civil service, the private sector or academia. This occurs despite their proven abilities as leaders and agents of change, and their right to participate equally in leadership and democratic governance spaces.
